Training and Events

AMSU is the leading provider of learning, development and networking opportunities for students' union professionals in the UK.  Our training programme is speciallly tailored to the needs (and budgets) of students' unions and their staff whilst maintaining the high professional standards we believe should exist throughout the sector.

Our flagship annual conference is run in conjuction with a host students' union, appointed each year through competative tender.  This ensures that the very best venue and conference planning skills are brought together to make each year an exceptional event which drives forward both individual delegates and the sector as a whole.

Our collaborative events with sector partners ensure that major topics are addressed with all the relevant people, skills and perspectives present.  In particular, our joint seminars, run in collaboration with NUS and NUS Services Limited, bring together elected student representatives and students' union managers to address the biggest challenges facing the movement as a whole.

Organising a training event

AMSU is keen to see volunteers being able to develop and grow their own events. However it wants to support that activity as much as possible.

If you are wanting to run your own event either as a region or specialist group then the office recommends using the following steps:

  1. Get your ideas together and formalise what you want to do
  2. Download the event form (click here)
  3. Work through the form filling in as much details as you can. This should identify where you need help and where the office can support your activity.
  4. Send the form to AMSU and book a call from them to work through and finish it off detailing who is responsible for which aspect of running the event
